BSA Architecture Technical concept BSA is a Client/Server application. Server of the application is on the IBM iSeries. A part of application is on the PC in DOS or WIN 95/98 or NT environment. Central database is DB2 on the server. The IBM product LANDP is used for communication. This is an on-line application and is developed in the programme language C and ILE/C with SQL language for data manipulation related to the server of the application. iSeries provides secure customer data and scales to the future customer growth. The iSeries server is suitable for Lotus Domino, globally recognised office application. Out of the DB2 database, data may be retrieved to Lotus Notes, EXCEL, Word and report preparation may continue. Recommended equipment for BSA usage at the workstations (clients) is PC with minimum 486 8MB RAM or higher performance. Such a workstation may serve as a communication server to iSeries, or it may be in LAN where it is to access iSeries through communication server (LANDP). It is not necessary that the database resides on workstations. Together with BSA workstations other Windows applications may be simultaneously used. Documents are printed on matrix or laser printers compatible with the IBM, Epson or HP printers. When the iSeries is used it is recommendable to use higher-performance printer.
